The Healing Power of Solfeggio Frequencies

Have you ever heard a sound or piece of music that brings you to tears, gives you shivers, or even stirs discomfort?
That powerful reaction might be a response to a solfeggio frequency—a tone resonating with a need within you for release or attention.
For me, the Vienna Boys Choir, Josh Groban, or even the sound of waves crashing in a hard wind can move me to tears.
This post connects with an earlier reflection I shared: The Body Knows: Grief, Healing, and What Our Faces Reveal
What Are Solfeggio Frequencies?
Solfeggio frequency music refers to a set of specific sound frequencies believed to have healing, balancing, and consciousness-expanding effects on the body and mind.
These tones are said to originate from ancient musical scales used in Gregorian chants and other sacred traditions. Many people find that these measurable tones can:
- Stimulate healing
- Reduce stress
- Awaken intuition
- Promote a sense of calm and balance
The Core Idea
Solfeggio frequencies are thought to resonate with natural harmonics that influence our energy centers (chakras), emotions, and even cellular functions.
Listening to them can be a meditative or vibrational healing experience—helping the body and mind return to alignment.

How People Use Solfeggio Music
These frequencies can be woven into everyday moments and healing practices, such as:
- Meditation or relaxation
- Reiki or energy healing sessions
- Yoga or breathwork practice
- Sleep, grounding, or stress relief
- Therapy, journaling, or quiet reflection
Sometimes, it’s as simple as sipping tea by a window or taking a mindful walk—an invitation to pause and listen inwardly.
Science and Skepticism
While many find solfeggio frequencies deeply calming or spiritually meaningful, scientific evidence remains limited.
Their benefits appear largely experiential and subjective—arising from mindfulness, sound resonance, and intention more than from measurable physical effects.
When researching this topic, I was struck by the sheer amount of information to sort through! As always, trust your intuition and personal experience to determine if—and how—solfeggio music fits into your life.
Fun Fact
If you’ve ever had a Reiki session with me, you’ve likely experienced solfeggio frequencies firsthand.
Before each session, I intuitively select the tone that feels right for the person I’ll be working with. Sometimes, the music shifts mid-session—as if the energy itself requests something new.
(That might be another blog post someday!)
Do I Believe in the Healing Power of Music?
You bet I do.
Sound has a way of reaching places in us that words cannot—helping us release, soften, or see something more clearly. When I take time to notice what I need and create space for that, solfeggio music often becomes a supportive companion in that process.
In my Reiki practice, sound works alongside energy in a very organic way. The frequencies help quiet the mind, while Reiki helps the body settle, ground, and open to healing. Together, they create a spaciousness where you can truly listen inwardly.
If you’re curious how sound and energy can support you, I invite you to experience them for yourself. A Reiki session offers a calm, restorative pause—one that often feels like returning to center.
